Trekking simply is a long journey in the
mountains which covers regular walking on the
trail from 01 day to many days as per interest.
Even in easy trekking, the trekkers will require
walking about 5 to 6 hours daily on uneven
terrain. Nepal probably offers the best trekking
option in the globe as the bio-diversity is
amazingly different. There are lots of routes
for Trekking in Nepal and all are equally
beautiful with different landscapes, mountains
and peoples.
Trekking in Nepal are of two types: Teahouse
Trekking and Camping Trekking. A Teahouse
Trekking is enormously standard even if it is
local run guesthouse. Teahouse trek is very
popular in the well - developed tourist regions
including Annapurna, Everest and Langtang –
Helambu regions where western, continental
meals, Nepalese meal (Dal bhat), and clean
accommodation are available in most of the
places. This type of trekking offers you good
food, good accommodation in the available
teahouses & lodges.
Likewise, Camping Trekking is best called as
Fully Organized Supported Trek. As exploratory
or mountaineering expeditions, camping Trek is
also organized in the same style. Camping trek
includes a team of guide, cook, Sherpa, &
porters to give you accompany. Our porters carry
all trekking gears, food, fuel, & personal
belongings, & our cooks & assistant prepares hot
meals & carry out, supervises the whole
operations. Trekkers should carry only small bag
or what they might need during the day. At
night, they are provided dining tents, sleeping
tents, & toilet tents. They are also provided
with mattresses and down sleeping bags, all of
which are carried for them with the party. Even
tables and chairs are carried.

Altitude Sickness during Trekking in Nepal
Rapid accent to
high altitudes
often results in
the syndrome
known as acute
mountain
sickness (AMS).
At elevations
between 2500m
and 5000m, about
20% to 90% of
those who are
not adapted to
high altitude
will experience
mild symptoms of
AMS. In the
Mount Everest
region,
approximately
50% of trekkers
who walk to
altitudes above
4000m over five
days develop AMS.
Males and
females are
similarly
affected. Anyone
regardless of
age and fitness
venturing to
higher altitudes
can develop AMS.
There is an
increase in
breathing
frequency when
one is exposed
to lower oxygen
environment.
This natural
response is
known as the
hypoxic
ventilatory
response (HVR)
and there is
some evidence to
suggest that
people with a
low HVR are more
liable to
develop AMS.
However, the
well-known
mountaineers
Messner and
Habeler, who
were the first
ever to climb
Everest without
supplementary
oxygen, both had
low HVR's and
were
interestingly
not susceptible
to AMS. This
makes it
difficult to
determine if you
will suffer from
AMS or not.
The Symptoms of
AMS :
Headache /
Nausea / Fatigue
/ Loss of
Appetite /
Vomiting /
Dizziness /
Irritability /
Disturbed Sleep
Prevention :
Acclimatization
(After 1000 m.
ascent stay one
more night for
Acclimatization)-
Don’t make RAPID
Ascent (Don’t go
too far too
fast)
No Alcohol,
Sleeping pills
and Smoking.
Drink more fluid
3-4 Liters a
day- clean
water-boiled or
treated / tea /
coffee / soup /
juice etc.
Climb higher and
sleep lower.
Do not travel
alone
