Langtang Helambu Trekking - 16 Days

Langtang is situated close to the Tibetan border in the north of Kathmandu. The scenery here is splendid and the Trekking is more adventurous as visited by fewer Trekkers. The forest in the region have temperate and sub-alpine vegetation. Wildlife includes migratory birds, deer, Monkey, Thar and Pika.

The religious of Tamang people closely resemble those of the people of Tibet inhabits the area. We make our trek through larch & rhododendron forests that are abundant with wild flowers & birdlife. This all help to ensure your trek particularly attractive in the spring time.

The area is rewarded with the stunning views of the Manasalu, Ganesh Himal in the west & even as far as the Annapurna massif. A series of undulating ridges offers delightful walking before descending to the edge of Kathmandu.

Major Attractions: Langtang National Park the habitant of endangered Red Panda, the Gosainkunda Lake situated in the height of 4300 m. is the most visited pilgrimage site of Hindus. You will see the culture of Tibetan origin peoples is another attraction.

Itinerary in Detail

Day 01:

Drive Kathmandu to Dhunche which will take some 7 hrs by bus or can drive by the Landcruiser . Overnight stay at the Hotel in Dhunche the cool town with the mountains view including Ganesh Himal, few peaks of Langtang range and the Tibetan peaks

Day 02:

Trek Dhunce to Syabru Gaon 2100m or can go down to Syabru Bensi. Syabru Gaon is nice village with the settlements of the Tamangs the major peoples of the Langtang area supposed to be migrated from Tibet many years ago.

Day 03:

Trek Syabru Gaon to Lama Hotel 2380m. The route is long in the jungle. Lunch in the Bamboo village with few lodges and teashops. The trail to Lamahotel follows the Langtang river and then up for the last couple of hours.

Day 04:

Trek Lama Hotel to Langtang 3500m. The trail here after Ghodatabela literally it means the Horse Stable. After this the trail is slightly gradual and beautiful in the valley with the grazing Yaks.

Day 05:

Trek Langtang to Kyangjin Gomba 3800m. This is the beautiful valley in the lap of the Langtang Lirung and other around. The Cheese factory in the Kyangin Gumba offers the Yak Cheese. This is the place to explore the valley and lots of small peaks to climb.

Day 06:

Day to explore the Kyanging valley and climb the Cherko Ri ( 5033 m.) to view the mountain range.

Day 07:

Trek back to Lama Hotel

Day 08:

Trek Lama Hotel to Syabru Gaon.

Day 09:

Trek to Chandanbari. This small town is popular for the Cheese.

Day 10:

Trek to Gosainkund Lake (4380 m.) passing lauribinayak . It is little difficult day. Gosainkunda area is popular for the Hindu pilgrimages. There are so many lakes around and associated with the origin of the Universe according to the myth.

Day 11:

Trek to Tharepati. It is another long day to trek. You will pass the tragic Ghopte Bhir where the TG 319 in 1990 was crashed and 190 lives claimed. You will see the ruins of the plane still.

Day 12:

Trek down to the Melamchi Gaon. Lunch in the arrival of the village.

Day 13:

Trek to Tarkeghyang Where Buddhist monastery is situated.

Day 14:

Trek to Sermathang.

Day 15:

Trek to Melamchi Pul Bazar.

Day 16:

Drive back to Kathmandu.
