Everest
Base Camp Trek - 13 Days
|
|
When the trails of Nepal were opened after
1950's, Everest Base Camp became the premier
goal for many adventurous walkers. This stunning
trek visits both the base camp and KalaPatthar
(5545m), a viewpoint recognized as the best
point to see Mount Everest.
The UK's leading magazine The Observer, has
selected Everest Base Camp Trekking in Nepal in
20 Journeys of a Lifetime. You start your trek
from Lukla after a 30 minute flight from
Kathmandu. After landing the tiny airstrip,
the adventure really begins. From Lukla you trek north through pine forest to the
bustling Sherpa capital, Namche Bazaar.
As you ascend, the alpine scenery becomes more
rugged and climb above the tree line to reach Dingboche in the Imja valley for further
acclimatization and exploration. It is then a
steady ascent, following glacial moraines, to
Lobuche and then on to your lodge at GorakShep.
From here you ascend to the summit of KalaPatthar
for brilliant views of Mount Everest and a
breathtaking 360-degree panorama of the worlds
highest mountains. Then trek to the historic
site of Everest Base Camp before returning to Lobuche and starting
your journey back to
Kathmandu.
